Who We Are

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Austin, TX, Virtuix pioneers movement in AI generated worlds, whether imaginary game worlds or digital replicas of the real world.

How it Started

How it Started

Virtuix, founded in April 2013, is a pioneer in the modern wave of Virtual Reality (VR) innovation. The release of the Microsoft Kinect in November 2010 inspired Virtuix Founder and CEO Jan Goetgeluk to believe that virtual reality was on the brink of a resurgence. Motivated by the desire to walk naturally in VR, rather than pushing buttons on a gamepad or keyboard while sitting, Goetgeluk began developing the "Omni" omni-directional treadmill in 2011. After two years of research and development, he launched the Omni on Kickstarter in June 2013, raising over $1.1 million and making it one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns of its time.

Commercial Success

Commercial Success

In 2016, Virtuix shifted its focus from the consumer market to the commercial sector, introducing the “Omni Pro” system to location-based entertainment venues worldwide. Through our global distribution network, Virtuix has shipped over 4,000 Omni Pro units, which are now installed in more than 500 entertainment venues across 45 countries, making Omni Pro the most widely distributed VR hardware outside of headsets. In November 2018, we launched Omni Arena, a turnkey esports attraction featuring four Omni Pro units, designed for high-end entertainment centers.

Coming Home

Coming Home

In October 2020, Virtuix announced Omni One, a home-optimized Omni system that marks a return to the company’s original vision. Omni One is a complete entertainment solution, featuring a standalone VR headset and a dedicated game store. Unlike the Omni Pro, Omni One eliminates the support ring, providing players with unparalleled freedom of movement—including crouching, kneeling, backing up, strafing, and jumping.

AI Generated Worlds

AI Generated Worlds

As AI rapidly transforms how virtual environments are created, from expansive fantasy realms to geo-specific digital twins, Virtuix leads the way in enabling physical movement within these worlds. Our products empower users to walk, run, and explore naturally inside AI-generated spaces, bridging the gap between artificial intelligence and human immersion. In 2025, we introduced Virtual Terrain Walk (VTW), a cutting-edge VR system that combines omni-directional treadmills with realistic terrain data. VTW enables military commanders and units to physically walk through mission environments for terrain reconnaissance, immersive planning, and leader rehearsals—redefining how professionals engage with digital spaces.
