Our Pathfinder Program will wrap up this coming month. As we collect feedback from our Pathfinders, we are working through a list of adjustments needed to improve quality and prepare the Omni for volume manufacturing. These updates do not require a major redesign and will be completed this month.
In parallel, we are currently negotiating production costs and schedules with our China supply chain. Once our design adjustments, quality improvements, and negotiations are complete, we can finally provide you with a reliable production schedule. We realize that the seemingly endless wait is increasingly hard to bear. Virtuix thanks you for your continued patience and support.
Investment Round: Jim Cramer on the Omni
Jim Cramer of CNBC’s Mad Money tried out the Omni last week and called it “so cool” and “very exciting.”* See the full segment here:
We thank the community for your overwhelming response to our round, which is off to a rapid start. We reached $2.5MM less than 24 hours after our public launch last Thursday, and we now have already received more than $3.5MM in investments from more than 750 private investors and 5 institutional investors. We are thrilled that our community can be part of this funding round. If you’re interested to learn more, visit our SeedInvest page here:
Legacy Games on the Omni
Our Pathfinders continue to upload gameplay videos, in particular those depicting major titles not intended for VR (which we call “legacy games”). See a few videos below of Pathfinder and community manager SutekiB playing Grand Theft Auto 5, Fallout 4, Bioshock Infinite, and Dear Esther:
SutekiB has prepared a few how-to-play guides that provide the optimal settings in VorpX, Xpadder, and x360ce to play these legacy games comfortably. These awesome PC games are hard to play in VR with just a head-mounted display because of discomfort, but when set up correctly you can play these games for hours with the Omni. It’s a blast.
VR Industry Developments
• Oculus started shipping the Rift head-mounted display this week. Consumer VR is here.
• Headset manufacturer Fove raised an $11 million Series A round to accelerate mass production of its headset with built-in eye tracking.
• Visionary VR raised $6 million to work on VR story creation software.
• According to Digi-Capital, investments in VR/AR have already hit $1.1 billion in 2016.
As always please join us on our Forums if you’d like to discuss this update or anything VR related:
