Kickstarter launch on June 4th

Omni_InviteWe are happy to announce that we got approved for Kickstarter and will launch on June 4th!

We are in the midst of a revolution in virtual reality. The release of exciting new devices such as the Oculus Rift and Razer Hydra has brought the decades-old dream of true virtual reality closer than ever, but there’s still one more piece to the puzzle: the Virtuix Omni.

The Omni takes virtual reality to the next level— allowing anyone to stand up and traverse virtual worlds with the natural use of their own feet. The Omni is the first virtual reality interface for moving freely and naturally in your favorite game. Moving naturally in virtual reality creates an unprecedented sense of immersion that cannot be experienced sitting down.

Walk, run, jump, crouch or strafe—map any movement to natural motion with the Omni. It works, out of the box, with any game that uses keyboard input. The Omni will free gamers from passive, seated gameplay, unleashing the full potential of virtual reality gaming with the Oculus Rift and future head mounted displays.

Our community has been a wonderful resource for virtual reality innovators, and we hope to rely on your support, ideas, and dedication once more. Kickstarter funding will be used to prepare for final production and get Omnis built and into the hands of as many gamers, researchers, enthusiasts, and developers as possible.

Check out our Kickstarter trailer video and our new demo video showcasing independent movement and aim using the Omni, Razer Hydra, Oculus Rift, and the Half Life 2 VR mod by Nathan Andrews.

Make a chance to win a free Omni by signing up for our upcoming contest !  Learn more about our upcoming Kickstarter campaign at:

We will be demonstrating the Omni live in Los Angeles on May 29th in the Venice Beach area at 7:30PM and offering a limited number of seats to this invite-only event. Come check out the Omni, meet our team and join us for a drink afterwards.

Thank you all for your encouragements and support thus far!  Now let’s get ready to kick off our campaign!

    Hi Jan,
I have been a huge fan since I saw one of your first early video demos on MTBS3D forum. Can’t wait for you to Kickstart this thing! I hope I can have a chance to see the Omni demoed in person at the Omni Live event. VR really needs a device like this to succeed.

I love the product, but…semi-naked models? Really? Please don’t let your campaign get derailed into a misogyny debate. Half your KickStarter audience is female, remember? Those PR shots did not make a good impression on me or my wife. Please rethink, I want to see the Omni succeed!

Congratulations on the good news. Looking forward to give next-gen VR a try.

Cant wait for the kickstarter to begin and that hype increasing live event! I hope that I find the money to help virtuix in kickstarter and get my own omni :)

Will back Kickstarter. Can’t wait to get ahold of one. Hopefully you can guys can send them out faster than team Oculus is sending out the Rifts. I’m sill waiting for mine, expected to get it a month ago.

    @ Chris Payne

I’m sure your wife was more perturbed by the images than you. I can feel her glaring at the screen as you type. There is nothing “misogynist” about pictures of attractive women showing skin. Get over it and drop the politically correct nonsense.

When I saw the TF2 video demonstration of the Omni with the Oculus Rift I had a major gamergasm, and as far as immersion goes, this together with the Oculus Rift and a good input device, is probably the best there is.
I’m easily gonna pick up 3D programming again and make my own experimental virtual world!

Well, according to WIkipedia, sexual objectification is indeed an example of misogynism. Unless that woman is for som reason cosplaying a Dead or Alive character while playing Dead or Alive, it can hardly be relevant marketing for the product. It’s just a cheap way to attract male teenage 1337 h4X0r lollollollol!!!!111 gamers.

I’ll still buy the Omni though.

@ Chris, Mr. Kuk: the artwork pictures have indeed caused a controversy that we did not expect. We’ll be sure to downplay the images going forward. The Omni is an exciting product on which we have worked hard since the last 2 years, so we wouldn’t want to derail the focus or messaging. Thank you all for your feedback and support!

Are you guys going to be going over your cable management setup? I’m really curious as to how you’ve routed them currently, or plan to route them in the future. Especially pertaining to the Razer Hydra.

Can’t wait for the campaign! Hoping to be among the very first to pledge. Gonna have to get up early for that one!

@Mr. Kuk It’s Sindel from Mortal Kombat, so yes it’s cosplay. I find them all to be sub-par, it cheapens the Omni in my view. Not due to the amount of skin showing but because they are badly done with no artistic quality to speak of. Brings to mind a cheap and nasty 90s photoshop job!

Surely you have some marketing/artistic people to lend a hand in presenting the product in a much more modern and updated setting? If that’s what they came up with, you have gone a little too cheap in that department. Remove the models, have an isometric shot of the Omni centered and bring in some subtle text and generally match it up with the simplicity of your logo and it’ll come out far better than these awful attempts.

Looking forward to the kickstarter though, a nice complement to my Rift :)

Just wondering, will kickstarter put this up at midnight on the 4th? if not around what time will it go up?
I’m a very huge fan, and I want to make sure I want to be one of the first to back you so I can get the better deal (if you’re doing that). Keep up the great work!
